Spring/Summer Essentials

001

So spring is here!! Here are a few cosmetic items I think are perfect for Spring/Summer! I have already reviewed a lot of these products before so I wont be going into too much detail.

Face

In warmer weather we don’t want to wear a heavy foundation and a full face of make-up, so here are a few alternatives I find perfect for the warmer weather!

Moisturizer

002

Sometimes just a moisturizer or a face cream will be enough in the warm weather. I love this one by Avon it’s from the care range and it’s called Fresh Hydration. It has an SPF of 15 so thats great for protecting your skin from the sun.  I think it’s only £2 in price so it’s budget friendly too!

BB cream

006

GOSH BB cream

BB creams are light a light weigh all in one product that’s perfect for spring/summer. Again the one I use is the GOSH BB cream and I’m the shade 01-sand.

I’ve reviewed this product before so if you want to read about it then just go to the home page and scroll until you find the GOSH cosmetics review.

Foundation

011

Chanel -Vitalumiere Aqua

If you prefer a fuller coverage in the spring/summer months then I suggest a light weight formula that isn’t going to feel heavy on your skin. I use Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation if I’m going out in the evenings in the warmer months as it’s long lasting and still light. This is a water based foundation so make sure you shake it well. Like all Chanel products It smells amazing and you feel a million dollars wearing it.

Powder

007

Benefit- Hello Flawless powder

In warm weather I just like to put some moisturizer on, a little concealer and some face powder. I love Benefit’s Hello Flawless powder because  it’s a full coverage powder whist still being light weight and allowing your skin to breath. I have done a full review on this product so  if you want more information on this product check it out.

Concealer

008

Benefit- Boi-ing Concealer

I have a lot of facial scaring for various reasons so no matter what season it is I only wear a full coverage, heavy duty concealer. I love Benefit’s Boi-ing concealer as It full coverage, heavy duty but lets my skin breath. It’s a holy grail product and I suggest it to everyone.

Skin Finish

012

MAC-Mineralise skin finish – soft and gentle

This is a new product for me that I recently purchased, I see a lot of people use this as a highlight but for me because I’m really pale I use a light dusting of it all over my face to make me look alive. It gives me a healthy, natural glow to my skin and I really really love it. I think it’s perfect for warm weather because if your anything like me and don’t tan or burn (yes the sun ignores me) then you need something to look a little bit sun-kissed.

Blush

009 010

Dainty doll Cream Blush

Like I have said I million times in many of my blog posts I have really dry skin so I love cream blushes but I often find that their really heavy on my skin. I love Dainty Doll’s cream blush because not only is it for really pale skin but it’s not heavy on my skin and they come in loads of different colours and none of which are too dark for me.
Fixing Spray

013

MUA Pro -Base Fixing Spray

Using light amounts of make-up also means you have to touch it up more often, That is unless you use a fixing spray! I love this one by MUA as its only £5 and it actually works, unlike MAC’s Fix+. I only apply my make-up once and then I only need to top up my lipstick though the day and my powder if it’s really warm.

Eyes

I still use my normal eye make-up in the spring/summer so no real change there apart from eye shadow

I don’t tend to use eye-shadow in the warm months but if you do I suggest to use a eye-shadow base or primer. I use dainty doll’s eye shadow base. but any cream eye-shadow or primer will be fine.

Lips

I love using lip-balm in the warmer weathers so lip-balms with a tint are perfect.

There are my favorite lip-balm tints to use in the summer and spring.

Revlon Colour bust lip butter, MUA Power Pout and The body shop-born lippy in passionberry

MUA Power Pout Lip Tint + Balm Review

005

So like usual I went to stake out the different make-up stores and that means I went to Superdrug! I saw this on the MUA stand and had to get it!
You may or may not know that these balm stain products are the ‘in’ things right now and they’re  all basically carbon copies of  the Clinique Chubby Sticks and they’re rather expensive. Revlon have come up with a great ‘dupe’ and that’s reasonably priced but I wanted to try this one because it was £3! that’s correct you read that right £3, but is it any good, read on.

L’Oreal False Lash Flutter Mascara Review

IMG_1362

L’Oreal False Lash Flutter Mascara has now become my favorite above Volume million mascara which is saying a lot.

The formula is great and really easy to work with and It gives you volume and length with only one application, two applications will make you look as if you have false lashes on. While I was In boots today picking up a new tube of this bad boy two women come up to me and asked which brand of fake lashes I used, too which I polity smiled and showed them my mascara and assured them that my lashes were real.

The want takes a little getting used too as it has a flat side which lengthens and curved side which gives amazing volume and definition.

When applied your lashes appear false! which is great for me as I can’t for the life of me apply fake lashes.

It costs £10.99 from Boots or Superdrug and  I’m sure you can get it online also.

Hope you enjoyed this little review

People Don’t Know What They’re Doing!!!!!

mac-logo_thumb

Okay so this maybe a little bit of a rant, The logo’s above are just two of the five or six places I went but their the only logo’s I could be bothered to find and I don’t know about you but I don’t like reading without pictures because I’m a child at heart.

The first place I went was to the MAC counter now I went there on three different days so I saw more that one of the people working at the counter. I asked for some help picking out a few things, concealer being one of the things I needed help with on the the first visit there. I got told they didn’t know what to recommend because I’m so pale!! MAC are famous for having shades to match every skin tone as they go from white to very very dark.  Too me the sales person I seen just didn’t know how to do her job! your supposed to be a make-up ‘artist’ but she needed to go back to ‘beauty school’.

The second time I went back the woman who served me at the counter was much more helpful and told me what shade I needed to get but unfortunately they didn’t have any in stock and told me to try the MAC counter in Debenhams, so that’s where I went but that’s were I ran in to problems with the staff.  I got my concealer but only after waiting almost 20 minutes to get served! No they weren’t busy just their conversation meant more to them than a customer.

The third and final time I went I picked up two mac lipsticks.

014 008

MAC LIPSTICK: SNOB and BOMBSHELL

I knew I wanted to buy ‘Snob’ so that was easy enough, but I also wanted to buy a more natural looking lipstick, I told the lady at the counter who was nice enough what I wanted and said I didn’t want anything bright…..She pulled out Nicki Minaj Viva Glam lipstick!! That is everything I didn’t want!
either she wasn’t listening to me which as her job she needs to do or she really wanted to wind me up.

Okay so that’s the end of my rant, I love MAC cosmetics and I wont stop using them it’s not the products that I have problems with it’s their clearing under trained staff. I’m sure not all staff are like that but in both the MAC store and a MAC counter I went too the staff were just awful for various reasons.

Do you have any bad customer servise experiences I’d love to hear about them to make me feel better about ‘the world being out to make my life hard’ (joke) Tweet me @AngieBeatDown

See you next time xx

Beauty Bargains!!!

006

Hi Guys!!! Sorry this has taken me so long to post! I had to wait for deliveries and then I had work to do, But finally it here. Student loans are in but this time they have to last until September!! So everything this term is being budgeted! So here are a few things I picked up for A LOT less money then what you would pay for them on the high street or If I got them on the high street they were on an offer. Okay Because I’m rubbish at maths I’m not going to work out how much I saved but instead I’ll put in what the retail price of each product is and how much I paid for them. Lets get started…

Products I Regret Buying.

003

We all have products that just don’t work for us, but look fabulous on other people. Well here are some products I really wanted to work for me but just didn’t. If they worked for you well good on you, but this is my opinion on products that really suck when used on me.

Long Lasting Lip Products

007

I don’t know about you, but I personally hate it when I put lipstick or gloss on, take a sip of coffee and BOOM! You no longer have any lip product on. Reapplying it in public always runs the risk of getting it on your teeth. So I’m picked out five products from my make up bag that last a long time on the lip.

Eye-shadow Palettes

iphone 1 005

Hey guys!

Yes I know, another post well this is what happens when I get distracted it means you get new stuff to read! Lucky you!

On Twitter earlier today somebody asked me what eye-shadow palettes I had, and If I would review them, Yes I know I have an essay to write but my brain hurts from reading journals so for now I’ll just write this instead.  (procrastination is a killer)

So here are the eye-shadow palettes I own and reviews of how I like them.
